The Museum of Lost Objects

How to explain the collision between History and Culture in the new MNAC exhibition

Let us imagine that we take a box and, within it, we carefully place a set of precious objects. We close it and, when we go down the stairs, we stumble.

The result of this imaginary stumble is the exhibition at MNAC, La capsa entròpica. El Museu d’objectes perduts (The Entropic Box. The Museum of Lost Objects) by Francesc Torres.

On the tour, with Torres in the double role of curator and artist, he takes the museum by the hand and, based on a selection of works from the museum, mainly from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, rolls down the stairs. Just like in a Buster Keaton movie.

Our collaboration: the production and adaptation of the texts displayed in the 9 exhibition areas.

An interesting challenge to bring the objective of the artist to the user: to reflect on the confrontation between history and culture and the preservative function of museums within this context.

In order to achieve this, the editorial approach of the project has been defined and worked on with Francesc Torres in the revision and adaptation of his original texts.
